Capstone Journey
When I began my capstone project in the fall of 2016, I was a little disoriented. I knew that I wanted to complete my project on teaching strategies and student engagement, but I didn't have a clue on how I wanted to intertwine everything. I started to develop my capstone with a digital story that narrated my passion behind giving the classroom a makeover and creating innovative instructional strategies for educators.
During the following semester, I had to complete an instructional design plan that tied into my theme. This led to me developing a design that emphasized student engagement. I created a design that taught students how to use Google Docs to create word documents to type up their research assignment summaries.
My final component was to investigate a topic that related to my theme and complete a review of the literature. This review took a deeper dive into how to increase student achievement and engagement using game-based learning. This was the most challenging part of my capstone due to its extensive amounts of research. Although, I was able to learn a great amount of information from conducting this research. Information that I still utilize to this day.
As I wrapped up my capstone project, I arranged it all to be an extension of my FlUrNing website-created using the skills I gain from CUIN 7316, Development of Online Educational Resources. I will be using this website as my multimedia product. This website is intended to become a blog for innovative instructional strategies and activities that will be shared to educators, parents and students around the world.
